1. Welcome & Introduction

Hi there! I’m Brittney Smith, a nurse, wife, and the voice behind Bible, Boots, and Aprons. This blog (https://biblebootsandaprons.com) is a personal space where I share my heart. Because I value your trust, I want to be open about how I handle your information. If you ever have a question about your data, just email me at [email protected].

2.  The Comment Section

I love hearing from you! When you leave a comment, we collect the info you type into the form, plus your IP address and browser details.

  • •Why? We use the Antispam Bee plugin to keep the “digital weeds” (spam) out of our community.
  • The Details: Your name and email are used with your consent when you hit “submit.” I personally look over all first-time comments to keep this space edifying.
  • Profile Pictures: We use Gravatar to show your profile photo. You can check out their privacy policy here.
  • Media: If you upload images to the site, please be mindful that images often have “location data” (EXIF GPS) hidden in them. To keep you safe, I use the Strip Image Metadata plugin to automatically scrub that info from JPGs and WebPs. However the responsibility remains with you.

3. In the Kitchen (Recipes)

If you use our recipe features, we might see how you’ve rated a dish or what you thought of the flavors. This helps me know which “Apron” content you’re loving so I can serve up more of it!

4. Newsletter

When you sign up for my newsletter, your email address is tucked away safely in our database via Mailpoet. This is just so I can send you my monthly updates and occasional bonus content. You’re always in the driver’s seat—you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. No hard feelings!

5. The “Cookie” Jar

Like most sites, we use “cookies” to make your experience smoother. I use CookieYes to give you total control. You can always change your mind by clicking the little pink cookie in the bottom left corner of your screen.

• Necessary: These keep the site running and secure.

• Analytics: These tell me which posts are your favorites so I can write more of them.

• Performance: These help the site load faster so you can get to the content you need.

6. Understanding My Audience (Analytics)

I use Google Analytics to see things like which country my readers are from or how long they stay. I’ve set it to “Anonymize” your IP address, meaning I see trends, not you specifically. If you’d rather not be counted, you can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Friends of the Blog (Third Parties)

Sometimes I embed a video or a “Pin It” button from Pinterest. These act like a “mini-window” to another site. Those sites might collect data or use their own cookies. For example, when you use our Pin It button, you’re governed by Pinterest’s Privacy Policy.

8. Stewardship: Who Sees Your Data?

I don’t sell your information—ever. I only share it with trusted tools that help me run this blog, such as:

  • Safety & Tech: Antispam Bee, CookieYes (Privacy), Jetpack (security), and Updraft Plus (backups).
  • Communication: Mailpoet and Gravatar.
  • Affiliates: Amazon (through affiliate links)
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (IP addresses are anonymized).

9. How Long we Keep Your Data & How we Protect it

Retention: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For newsletter subscribers, we keep your info as long as you remain a part of our email family.

Security: I take the stewardship of your data seriously. This site uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption to ensure that the information you send us is protected. While no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, I use industry-standard tools to keep the “digital doors” locked.

10. Your Rights (The Golden Rule & GDPR)

Because I believe in treating others as I’d want to be treated, you have full rights over your data. You can ask me to:

• See it: I can send you a file of the data I have.

• Fix it: If something is wrong, I’ll correct it.

• Forget it: You can ask me to delete your comments or info (unless I’m legally required to keep it for taxes or security).

California & International Compliance (DNT & GDPR)

Do Not Track: Some browsers have a “Do Not Track” feature. Currently, our website does not change its behavior based on these signals, but we do give you full control over cookies through our CookieYes banner.

International Visitors: While I am based in Missouri, I aim to respect the privacy rights of my friends in the EU and elsewhere. By using this site, you acknowledge that your data will be processed in the United States.

11. Protecting the Little Ones (COPPA)

While I write about toddlers and parenting, this site is intended for adults and parents. In accordance with the COPPA Rule, I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think your child shared something here, email me and I’ll delete it immediately.

12. Where Your Data Goes

This blog is run from Missouri, USA. By using this site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your state or country, where data protection laws might be a little different than they are in your neck of the woods.
