Our
Story

“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Proverbs 16:3

Brittney Smith, SDA homemaker, sits on a flatbed trailer, holding her 6-month-old baby girl while her two-year-old daughter sits beside her.

Hello and welcome! I’m Brittney Smith, RN—the wife, mother, and SDA homemaker behind Bible, Boots, and Aprons.

For seven years, I navigated the fast-paced world of healthcare as a Registered Nurse (RN), from the bedside to the office of Assistant Director of Nursing. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for the connection between faith, health, and quality of life. But when I transitioned to being a stay-at-home mom on the farm, I hit a new kind of wall.

From Registered Nurse to SDA Homemaker

I had an idealized vision of who I wanted to be: the perfect Christian, mother, wife, and friend. In my mind, I pictured a predictably tidy home where the laundry stayed caught up, and the counters stayed clear, an elaborate garden, and an endless list of daily achievements.

Then, reality set in.

Life is beautifully messy, chaotic, and busy, especially with toddlers underfoot. Yet, this is exactly where life is lived. In the middle of the dishes, the dirt, and the daily chaos, character is built—and God’s Word speaks to us right in the midst of it.

When I looked online for a space where modern SDA homemakers talked openly about living in the messy middle between the idealistic and the realistic—and the Biblical solutions they found through both Scripture and trial and error—I couldn’t find it.

So, I built it.

The Vision: Bible, Boots, & Aprons

The name—chosen with my husband, Carson’s help—reflects the three pillars of a joyful, intentional life:

  • Bible (Christian Living): This is our firm foundation. Here, you’ll find scriptural comfort for real pain, the freeing Biblical truth about personal devotional time, and practical low-stress Sabbath preparation, including a devotional for keeping Sabbath in a messy house.
  • Boots (Farm & Garden): This represents the grit of stewardship. I share how we run our homestead, tending our garden and caring for our animals with toddlers in tow.
  • Aprons (Homemaking & Health): This is where my training as a Registered Nurse meets the kitchen. I provide “Blue Zone” inspired plant-forward recipes, and my “Cooking by Heart” Kitchen series—teaching you how to cook delicious, healthy meals from scratch with whatever you have on hand.
