about me
Hello and welcome! I’m Brittney Smith, the wife and mother behind Bible, Boots, and Aprons.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), my career in long-term care gave me a deep appreciation for holistic wellness and the connection between faith, health, and quality of life. Now, as a stay-at-home mom and focused on farm life and simple living, my focus is on sharing these principles.
I am a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, and the principles I live and write by are deeply aligned with the Blue Zone lifestyle—the unique, evidence-based habits that lead to remarkable longevity. The Adventist community in Loma Linda, California, is famously known as America’s only Blue Zone. (Learn more about the Loma Linda Blue Zone here).
The story behind the name
Bible, Boots, and Aprons is actually a name my husband Carson helped me come up with. It reflects my life, passions, and the content I share here:
- Bible (Christian Living): The foundation we build our lives on. In this section, you’ll find devotionals, Bible studies, and spiritual reflections, as well as practical ideas for enjoying Sabbath rest. All scripture quotations used on this site, unless otherwise noted, are from the King James Version (KJV).
- Boots (Farm & Garden): Representing all the work around the farm we put our boots on for. In this section, you’ll find true stories from the farm, garden tips, livestock lessons, and DIYs.
- Aprons (Homemaking & Recipes) A symbol of my role as a homemaker. In this section, you’ll find all things home-related, including parenting lessons I’ve learned, recipes, and even a series on learning to cook from scratch without recipes. My recipes and homemaking philosophy are guided by my caregiver’s perspective and commitment to health and longevity. This means you’ll find a wide variety of nourishing options for your family: from recipes using clean meat to entirely plant-based/vegan, and even gluten-free (I include these, as many friends are gluten-free). There is truly a meal for every table and every lifestyle here.
