1. Who We Are & Contact Info

2. Comments
If you leave comments, the following data is collected: data entered in the comments form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string which is processed the Antispam Bee plugin to detect and block spam. This data is processed locally and is not shared with any third party services. Your IP address and browser user agent string is processed in our legitimate interest in detecting and keeping spam off the site. Your name and email address you provided in the comments form is processed based on your consent which you give by submitting the comment. I manually approve all first-time comments.
An anonymous string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at the following web address: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
3. Newsletter
If you sign up for my newsletter your email address is collected and stored by Mailpoet in my site’s database. This is so I can send you my monthly newsletter and occasional updates which you consent to receive when signing up. I use Mailpoet to help me manage and send my monthly Newsletter here is their privacy policy: https://www.mailpoet.com/privacy-notice/ You can unsubscribe at anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every email.
4. Recipes
If you use our recipe features, we may collect information about your use of the recipe such as ratings or comments you leave. This data is collected to improve our recipes and for user engagement.
5. Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
To further protect your privacy we use the Strip Image Metadata for JPG and WebP plugin to automatically remove location and other personal data from images uploaded.
6. Cookies
I use CookieYes to manage cookie consent. CookieYes displays a cookie banner allowing you to consent or decline cookies before they are placed on your device. It allows you to specify which cookies you will and won’t accept.
The only cookie categories currently on my site are:
- “Necessary” cookies are necessary for the site to function securely and do not include any personally identifiable data and do not require consent
- “Analytics” cookies track your behavior on my site so I know what pages people are spending the most time on that way I write more pages like your favorite ones, these you can opt out of if you choose to.
- “Performance” cookies, these track the performance of the website while you use it and some even optimize things so they load faster, these you have the option to decline. (Note that if you decline performance cookies it will affect your experience on the site some things might be slower and certain features might not work.)
CookieYes collects certain data to function properly, such as your IP address for geolocation (because different countries have different privacy laws) and your specific cookie choices. This information is stored to prove compliance to privacy laws in the case of an audit.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the little pink cookie in the lower left corner of your screen when on this site. You have the right to revoke your consent.
If you leave a comment on the blog, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in this sites cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit the blog’s login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies will also be set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
7. Website analytics
Analytics cookies are only collected once you consent to them in the cookie banner. If you opt out in the cookie banner or ignore the cookie banner altogether, we use Google Consent Mode to ensure that Google’s Analytics tags do not set cookies or collect personally identifiable data. This allows us to collect only aggregated, non-personal information to better understand our audience while fully respecting your privacy choices. I use Google Analytics in the legitimate interest of better understanding you (my blog’s readers) and improving my content, so thank you to everyone who does consent. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect your information, such as how many people visited my website, what pages they clicked on, average time spent on a page, and their location country/city. The version of Google Analytics I use Anonymizes your IP address by default. I also use Google Search Console to find out what types of search queries lead people to my site. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this blog may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website.
Note: Embedded content may use cookies. If you have not consented to certain cookies via the cookie banner, some embedded content may use functionality may be blocked by CookieYes.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content especially if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

9. Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

- Updraft Plus is a third party backup service we use to create copies of the website for security and disaster recovery purposes. These backups may contain personal data, which is stored securely and only for as long as necessary for administrative and legal purposes.
- W3 Total Cache is a caching plugin we use to improve site performance, this may involve the temporary processing of non-identifiable data.
10. How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained as long as the blog exists or until you request its deletion. This is so the blog can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue for me to approve manually.
For users who register on this blog (if any), the personal information provided in the user profile is stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). I can also see and edit the information if needed.
11. What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data stored about you, including any data you have provided to the site. You can also request that any personal data stored about you be erased. This does not include any data required for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

I am located in the state of Missouri in the USA, so please be aware that your information may be transferred to and maintained on technical devices located outside your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction, where the the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
13. Children’s Privacy
My blog is for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If I become aware that a child under 13 has provided me with personal information, I will take reasonable steps to delete such information from my records.
